I am actually at work today but my other half and I have made it into a valentines weekend this year even though we stayed home. Friday night he took me to a local restaurant for a three course dinner. The Quays used to be one of the most popular places to go in our area a few years ago but the number of people going there now has really dwindled. Our meal therefore was quite peaceful as well as being delicious cuisine. Yesterday I was feeling a little off colour but we popped out for lunch at Jenny's and got the car booked in for an MOT. In the evening I cooked bangers and mash for Richard - a favourite meal of his, and we shared a small bottle of champagne. We opened our cards a day early as we were going to be getting ready to take the car to the garage the following morning. Richard liked the Thorntons chocolates that I got him.
The car failed it's mot this morning, but it was only on a few minor things. I shall be taking it to the garage again tomorrow morning to get the work done.

Stress
This week has been a little tense. We were supposed to be exchanging contracts on Monday and being new to this home buying lark I hadn't realised that this was all about agreeing the moving in date. It seems that not all of us wanted to move at the same time and the fussy cow at the top of the chain who had our sellers jumping through hoops and me under extreme pressure to find a mortgage in the end, decided they needed a bit more time to get themselves sorted. True to form she threatened to break the chain when it didn't happen just as she wanted. It didn't help that I was menstrual and my dad was fussing about the lease extension. Anyhow at the end of the day the person who took the brunt of it inadvertantly was our lodger. She has moved out which has given us a bit more opportunity to get this place in suitable condition to rent.
Not only are we moving into our new home but we have to get this one ready to rent and also clear Richard's mum's flat ready to rent. It's going to be a busy few weeks. Danielle's temper is nearly as bad as mine, so we were hardly talking for a while but we have patched it up now. She is so like me and I think that she's going to be unlucky enough to lose her mum in the not too distant future. She's had quite a bad time already with one thing or another and I don't want to see her going back to self harming and trying to kill herself. She has been doing so well recently.

How time flies.....
The beginning of the year has been very busy for me. After the Christmas holidays my solicitor decided she might start doing something with regards to our move of home. The upshot of this is that we will be moving into our new abode on Monday 15th february after I spent a couple of weeks frantically trying to find a bank that would lend me some money to buy the place we found last August. Don't ask! I am now wondering how we will get everything packed in time. Fortunately we don't have to rush to get out of our current accomodation so Rome doesn't need to be built in a day for us.
Sadly my grandmother passed away at the end of January and Richard and I made the trek down to Cornwall to see her off as we should. It was very interesting to see my cousins after so long. It was a little annoying that they, who are two years older than me and one year younger, are probably only a size 6 or a size 8 at the most. For some reason I didn't eat much while we were there and this weeks weight loss was 3lbs. Perhaps we should visit more often. We are planning to have a holiday down that way some time next year and who knows maybe I'll be able to show off a somewhat slimmer figure. We still need to show them the wedding photo's.
Jazz was well behaved during our trip to Cornwall but she has been missing far too many training classes. Hopefully Chris and Marina will understand and once we are settled in our new home we will be able to get back to her training in earnest. I'm sure the move of residence will have an effect on her behaviour.
All my Fairtrade plans have been put on hold until a number of other things have been sorted out such as my French course and Farnborough Camera Clubs programme for 2010/2011. I may give up the french course but it is so nice to be able to use a few words from another language to break up the monotony in some conversation. The programme is essential and I will be much frowned upon if I don't get it done, but there are some dates that I need before I can make a start on it.

Away for a While
I realise I have been a bit naughty not keeping up to date with my blog but a few things have been going on:
One of the main things was getting my second assignment of French done for the Open University. I had got a bit behind with my studying due to my recent addiction to twitter and I had to skim read the chapters to try and get my TMA done. I still have some studying to catch up with but I'll get that done later.
Of course I have been back at work as a Sales Assistant at HM Supplies Aldershot www.hmsupplies.com which has been keeping me occupied. The owner of the business rather liked the christmas present I got her which is nice. So those tips I found on twitter via @smallbizlady were very useful.
Of course you may remember that one of my 6 new years resolutions was to lose weight. Well it wasn't going well and chocolate of all types was being consumed a bit too frequently and when James my Health Coach from www.rushmoorhealthyliving.org.uk phoned the other day I had to snigger, because instead of coming off the weight was actually going up. Anyhow I pulled myself together and got stuck into my diet at www.tescodiets.com. I chose the light choices with budget menu's, out of their wide variety of diets and it seems it was a good choice. I have been following the diet for just three days now and weight is already coming off. I also feel nice and full on the portions that I am allowed, although I do have a bit of extra fruit or the odd yoghurt, but definitely no chocolate. I did get a bit frustrated that I signed up having just done a weeks shopping and of course when they do your menu plan you need to go out and get all new groceries but I'm over that now.
Another thing that has happened since I last updated my blog was the snow! The snow has had quite an effect on things. Including us having to miss the pantomime with Gethin Jones (@GethincJones) and the gang at the Yvonne Arnaud. To say I was upset was probably an understatement. I spent a day in bed. Anyhow I threw my toys out of the pram at the theatre and they very kindly let us have two tickets to the very last performance. I had decided we were getting there by hook or by crook despite the weather, which was forecast to snow again. Fortunately the forecast was wrong and the conditions were relatively mild. As for the pantomime I was totally justified to be dissappointed to miss it the first time, it was awesome. Of course the last performance was a bit special with a few very special guest appearances and a few alterations to the performance. It has to be said it was fantastic and you really don't need kids to go along and enjoy it but of course the kids that are there do make it more enjoyable.
This weekend is going to be exciting too. We have been in the process of moving home for about 6 months now and this weekend we are finally going round to the new place to measure up for curtains. We haven't seen the place for ages now I just hope we like it as much as we did when we first saw it.

Making Progress
It's the first day of the first week back to work for many people today including my lovely husband Richard. I was working last week so it's not so new to me this year, but I have today done some serious work on my future business.
I have firstly got myself the twitter account in my business name and I have also started up a facebook page, to hopefully get some kind of feedback. I have found some great links to share with you on my blog page and I shall now be trying to find myself some potential suppliers, for my business, when I get it off the ground.
All in all quite a productive day since I was at work for 5 hours today and I also managed to get a couple of batches of washing done and I half cooked dinner. It really is good having an understanding hubby.

Happy New Year & Decade
Happy New Year! I have been feeling a little off colour the last few days so have had a short break from twitter and my blog. I am feeling all refreshed and well again now so it's time for a bit of catching up.
I posted my new years resolutions well before the clock struck midnight on January 1st 2010. So far I haven't taken up smoking again and jacket potatoes and fruit salads are becoming more frequent in my dietary intake but perhaps I still have a little bit of an issue with the quantity thing. I am keeping my food diary in a fashion and I have also signed up for Tesco diets. The daft thing is of course that I signed up after doing the shopping for the week so I can't really get started on thet one until next week now. The menu suggestions look fabulous though. It's such a shame that I can't justify spending £800 on one of the retreat weeks. I'll just have to make sure I keep up the treats locally. I shall be going back to the nail bar to get a manicure again very soon. The last one looked so good and lasted so well that it really does need to be done again.
I have also been looking into what fair trade products are readily available for purchase now. Some of the things I'd like to stock in my online shop are bed linen, bath robes and towels as well as clothes for men women and children. As I may have mentioned though I intend to start off quite small just catering for the potential christmas gift purchases at the end of the year. I have though been doing a bit of research and www.fairtrade.org.uk is a great site for finding out more about fairtrade, what is represents and where you can purchase the products.
If you have any suggestions for products you would like me to stock don't hesitate to let me know.

Political Views
I have a follower on twitter who is going for congress. This got me thinking about what my political views were and what I would like to see the political system here in the UK achieve. that of course would take quite a lot of thought and preparationand some time in the future i will do that but in the meantime the values I have in my Bio are the most important to me. To that end I am planning on starting a small business selling fair trade goods. I intend to start just as an internet operation in the first place and don't intend actually launching the business until the autumn, to hopefully get some of the Christmas shoppers thinking of more ethical presents for their friends and family. I have though, bought my web address. It is www.shopforthesoul.co.uk - currently there is no site there, but by the end of next year I hope that it will be a going concern. So as they say - watch this space!
